Ohio January 6th Defendant Blames Jews for All the World's Problems

Clayton Norris never thought he'd see charges for his violent actions on January 6th. Thanks to the Department of Justice, he was proven wrong, and, thanks to the work of a confidential informant who has allowed me to focus attention on domestic extremists across Northeast Ohio, his bigotry will come to light.

In May 2024, he was arrested on a felony charge of civil disorder and several related misdemeanors for his violent actions that day. Warrants for his Facebook page revealed a wealth of information. Norris knew why Congress was meeting on January 6th, saying he and his co-defendants had no choice but to "riot." Norris planned with other insurrectionists to bring hornet spray, bear spray, and Raid, weapons that would be used to assault hundreds of law enforcement officers on January 6th. Norris arrived at the Capitol before 1 PM, taunting and berating law enforcement with a bullhorn and urging them to "send those motherfuckers out." He also explicitly called for fellow insurrectionists to "storm the Capitol" before leading a push against law enforcement with a large metal barricade.

Norris is an acquaintance of John Douglas Wright, who organized two charter buses to take 100 people to the Capitol on January 6th. Wright pleaded guilty to a felony charge and was sentenced to 49 months in prison, a sentence he is serving through July 2026 at the FCI in Elkton, Ohio. Norris himself has a long history of political violence, racism, and bigotry. He is an associate of the Proud Boys and was photographed next to Wright on January 6th as well as next to the president of the Akron-Canton Proud Boys: Dan "Boomer" Ciammaichella. This chapter gained national attention when one of its members assaulted a black woman on camera.

Norris is guilty of more than associating with racists: he is one. Under the pseudonym "CT Freedoms," in October 2021, he organized protests of interracial couples. He is a supporter of "Ohioans Defending Freedom," a group aiming to form an armed militia and help the Proud Boys and other white supremacists infiltrate the government. He has also voiced support for "Protect The Children OHIO," a group seeking to end "critical race theory" and sex education in Ohio schools.

His biggest target, by far, however, has been Jewish people, whom Mr. Norris seems to blame for all the world's problems. Using a Facebook page in which his profile picture declares him a "PROUD TRUMPER," Norris posted, "If they can't see face, then there is no case," alluding to my prior point that he never believed he would face consequences. Norris shared a video to the "Patriots alliance group" that laid the blame for the increase in immigration at the border on a group called the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society: essentially, Jewish people. He shared another post to "We The People Freedom Ohio PUBLIC" that blamed the 1963 Kennedy assassination on John and Bobby Kennedy forcing AIPAC predecessor AZCPA to register as a foreign agent. In more proof of how pro-Palestinian figures are either being insanely ignorant or intentionally misleading when denying their ranks are infested with anti-Semites (not anti-Semitic in the same way the Proud Boys are "not racist"), Norris blamed Israel for the removal of thousands of posts related to Gaza. Norris called it "completely against the Constitution," apparently unaware that the First Amendment doesn't apply anywhere outside the United States. He also shared a video that listed the expulsion of Jews from various locations around the world. In short, in addition to the usual Trumper beliefs on race and sexuality, he holds the old anti-Semitic belief that Jews are somehow pulling the strings in a scheme for global control.

His supporters have rushed to his defense, with the likes of Ryan Jay, Tony Milano, Not-shii Dennis, Jay Deets, and others saying "Fuck the government" of "weak traitors" and choosing to say Norris was arrested for "taking a stand" rather than for his charges for violently attacking police with a metal barricade. Norris, for his part, continues to spew election misinformation and January 6th disinformation from the likes of the Daily Caller, Newsbreak, and Tucker Carlson.

Last week, I highlighted the Liberty Valley Church and its strange MAGA beliefs infecting the Akron-Canton area. I'm just getting started exposing the hate and political violence permeating the area. Norris, January 6th, and the Proud Boys are linked to this church, and these figures are all linked to prominent political figures in the area. This represents both a grave threat to Ohio and a model for Christian nationalist fascism that is threatening to topple American democracy. We must all come together to defeat people like Clayton Norris.
