South Carolina Woman Repeatedly Lies to the Media About Her January 6th Crimes

Christina Praser-Fair is an example of why even the misdemeanor cases are so important among the up to 2,000 people who could face charges for their actions during the January 6th insurrection. To be clear, she is not one of the nearly 1,450 people who have been charged so far, but she is one of the hundreds of people who have been identified by online sleuths but not yet charged for her actions.

Realistically, with 3,000+ people entering the Capitol and/or committing acts of violence and property damage on Capitol grounds, the Justice Department will not be able to charge everyone at the Capitol that day. Christina here doesn't deserve to get away. Praser-Fair, a divorced mother of three children, has owned the Cornwallis House Tea Company in Winnsboro, South Carolina, since January 2011.

Some small details serve a big role in painting a picture of her life. Among her tea blends served are "Patriot Tea" and "Libertea," which pay homage to the Founding Fathers. There's nothing wrong with being patriotic, although the latter blend honoring slave owners I'd consider problematic. In January 2017, she attended the inauguration of Donald Trump. There's nothing wrong with that, either: as an American, she has the right to her political opinions. Once again, I have to add something I find troublesome: she brought her minor kids. For people who whine about indoctrination, affinity for Donald Trump always sure does seem to be a family affair. She even blogged about her trip.

That's not the last time her minor son would visit D.C. On January 6th, 2021, Praser-Fair and her son, David William Fair, attended the "Stop the Steal" Rally before marching to the Capitol. Just before 2:22 PM that day, they entered the building. Because David was a minor that day, he can't be charged for entering the building that day. His mother, Christina, however, was all grown up.

Don't give Christina all the blame for her son's actions. Since he turned 18, he's made quite a name for himself as a stereotypical tiki-torch-carrying pile of trash. After the insurrection, he joined the Patriot Front, a group that has replaced the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers as the most visible boots on the ground of the alt-right and gained notoriety in 2022 after being busted in Idaho trying to disrupt a Pride event. After joining the Patriot Front, he attended the 2022 Confederate Memorial Day rally at Stone Mountain Park near Atlanta. After leaving the Patriot Front, he became the leader of the "White Lives Matter" project in South Carolina. Known as "Oyster Crackers," he is the co-founder of the white supremacist group Southern Sons Active Club, which made headlines for distributing Nazi pamphlets in Blythewood, South Carolina, during Halloween. In December 2023, he was banned from entering nearby military bases as a result of his activities.

Christina Praser-Fair hasn't made herself look much better than her son in the years since. In a Facebook post, she said the "Brownshirts" were out in full force to destroy her business. She claimed that she had "a right to attend any political demonstration," as if that's what she was being criticized for, and said she would not "cower to bullying" and that she was proud of being there. Upon being interviewed by a local news station just days after the insurrection, she said that the day was "insane." She denied making it to the Capitol steps and said that she had merely made it to the scaffolding. One year later, she said she wanted to "be a part of something, stand for what we believe in, add to the numbers." Did the Proud Boys write that last bit for her? Given her son's friends, it's not that unlikely.

The next answer she gave to News19 summarizes her view of January 6th best: "Going home and having this backlash was very surprising to all of us... It was totally unexpected." Once again, she denied entering the Capitol. Believe it or not, the local news in South Carolina didn't do a thorough investigative piece on a major event in U.S. history. As the images show below, she clearly brought her son into the Capitol that day. She repeatedly lied about it and played the victim while the son she brought with her to D.C. in 2017 and 2021 continued further down the road of domestic extremism. I reached out to Christina for this story and haven't heard back. Clearly, public pressure, online questioning, and business losses haven't taught Christina Praser-Fair the lessons she needs to learn about the law. Maybe a visit from the FBI and some time behind bars will.
