January 6th Felon Now Residing In Orlando Halfway House

A Lakeland, Florida, man who stole an officer's riot shield and kept it as a souvenir is now at a halfway house in Orlando after completing his sentence at a federal prison. Joshua Doolin, a former EMT who ran from news crews after being released on bond, was convicted at trial in March 2023 of felony civil disorder and three related misdemeanors. According to prosecutors, he filmed co-defendants Jonathan and Olivia Pollock, Michael Steven Perkins, and Joseph Hutchinson III repeatedly assaulting police officers before getting ahold of a stolen riot shield and using it to push against police. Doolin was proud of what he had done, saying he "didn't mind" being killed during the insurrection and even contemplating bringing a firearm to the Capitol, something he ultimately decided against.

Doolin was sentenced to 18 months in prison, three years of probation, and a $175 special assessment. In the spring of 2024, Doolin filed to have his prison sentence reduced after an appeals court ruling struck down an enhancement that was used in numerous January 6th cases. Nichols agreed, as he is always eager to do with white supremacist insurrectionists, and, on June 17th, 2024, Doolin was sent to a halfway house in Orlando. He'll be there until September 28th, 2024, and he will also be on probation until 2027. His career as an EMT, in the meantime, is over.

This comes as the cases against Doolin's co-defendants continue. Perkins was convicted of assaulting law enforcement with a flagpole and sentenced to four years in federal prison, a sentence he is serving through August 2026 at the FCI Coleman.

Jonathan Pollock remained a fugitive for nearly three years, while Olivia Pollock and Joseph Hutchinson III skipped out on their March 2023 trial and joined Jonathan Pollock in hiding. On January 6th, 2024, the third anniversary of the insurrection, all three were arrested in a raid on a ranch in Central Florida. Jonathan Pollock faces 17 charges, Olivia Pollock faces seven charges, and Joseph Hutchinson III faces nine charges. Most of these 33 charges are felonies, and all three will likely be convicted and spend years in prison.

A status conference was held on June 20th, and trial is set for October. Hutchinson has chosen to represent himself, which is pretty consistent with the unrepentant attitude these violent, law enforcement-assaulting felons have demonstrated to this point. As strange as it sounds, these men and women have a network of supporters in Central Florida helping them avoid consequences. Connected to these five defendants is a man named Thomas Paul Osborne, who faces his own charges for grabbing a police officer's baton on January 6th.

Osborne harbored Florida Proud Boy Christopher Worrell, who was convicted of assaulting law enforcement with pepper spray and sentenced to 10 years in prison, which he is serving through August 2031 at a federal medical center. These supporters were even mentioned by the trio during their arrest. Jonathan Pollock asked the agents if his arrest came about because of the reward for his capture and was relieved when they informed him it was not, saying, "That means none of my followers betrayed me." Hutchinson called the agents "traitors" to their country.

The detention hearing attracted dozens of supporters of the three, including the father of Olivia and Jonathan Pollock, Ben Pollock. Ben attended the "Stop the Steal" Rally and claimed that every single person who assaulted law enforcement on January 6th acted in self-defense because of the tear gas and rubber bullets they were hit with. I wonder if Mr. Pollock would have felt the same way if Black Lives Matter activists had stormed the Capitol.

The good news is that all seven of the men and women mentioned above are either sitting behind bars, awaiting trial, or, in the case of Mr. Doolin, have already served their time. There remains a lot of work to be done. Thomas Osborne harbored a fugitive, and he, along with every other member of the network supporting these thugs, deserve a knock on their door from the FBI.
