Male Facebook Karen Arrested for Stealing Sign on January 6th, Mounting it in His Bar

There have been a lot of strange occurrences in January 6th cases, from the FBI questioning a Biden campaign staffer who happened to share the same name as a January 6th defendant to an ex-boyfriend turning in a woman who stormed the Capitol in a pink beret. However, the arrest of a Pennsylvania man last month has to be among the most bizarre cases I have covered.
Ian MacBride of Pennsylvania is facing a felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding and several related misdemeanors for his actions that day. In the leadup to January 6th, MacBride sent graphic messages threatening violence against members of Congress, including promising to "literally drag them out of the Capitol and shove broom sticks up their asses." Someone has some suppressed fetishes. He joined a caravan of buses carrying dozens of Pennsylvanians to the Capitol, bragging about confirming his seat on the far-right site Patriots.Win. He used the word "Shadilay," in doing so, the name of an Italian disco song from 1986 that has become popular among far-right "Groypers." He appears to be a member of the movement and its Pepe the Frog fixation, carrying a flag for the fictional frog's home country of "Kekistan" into the Capitol on January 6th.
While in the Capitol, MacBride stole an "Area Closed" sign, which he later hung up in his bar, even bragging and posting a picture of the sign in a January 2021 post. While boasting about his part in "occupying the Capitol" and proudly displaying what he called his "ill-gotten Area Closed sign," he also claimed the insurrection was a "setup" and that they were "let in" and "peacefully demonstrating." In the same comment, though, he also claimed to be a victim of police brutality. There's nothing peaceful about theft nor is there anything peaceful about mace, Mr. MacBride. Even MacBride had to admit that "the North side of the Capitol was a total shit show."
Outside of his far-right echo chamber, Mr. MacBride was less radical and more of a male Facebook Karen. His only real activity on Facebook was repeatedly posting a picture of the Declaration of Independence every Independence Day (so, no points for originality). He posted a picture of a Trump rally on Halloween 2020, and he left a comment on a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation post asking them to stop tarring and chipping roads. He also left negative reviews of numerous businesses and restaurants. According to his reviews and his profile picture, he has a wife and kids.
I've reached out to Mr. MacBride for comment on his case, his crimes, and the series of poor life decisions that led him to where he is today. I have yet to receive a response from either his Facebook messenger or his Yahoo mail account, but, as always, I'll let you know when and if I do. If he's convicted of these charges, he's looking at years in federal prison as well as thousands in fines and restitution, all for Donald Trump. Was it worth it?
